UNDERWATER ROBOTICS

Robots enable us to inspect hard to reach structures, such as underwater components and perform oceanographic surveys. Inspired by the marine environment, we are developing  bio-inspired  underwater solutions with high manoeuvrability, remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) to inspect submerged pipelines and immersed plate inspection using ultrasonic guided waves.

ROBOTICS

AUTOMATED TUBE INSPECTIONS

Examining components such as reformer tubes and pipelines is critical and difficult to perform, especially in a volatile environment. At CNDE, we are designing and implementing automated solutions that can be utilised in real world scenarios. Multi sensory NDE techniques are explored including ultrasonic, EMAT, laser and eddy current to inspect and analyse these structures.

NAVIGATION AND CONTROL

We are developing algorithms that enable vehicles to operate in specific scenarios, with challenging environmental conditions, where external disturbances and sensor characteristics have significant influence on the vehicle behavior. This includes navigation in shallow water and deep water, in confined regions such as ports and tunnels, guidance system for missions like waypoint tracking or trajectory tracking and vision based obstacle avoidance.
